It’s been a several weeks since I paused to assess how well I was staying the course…that is my 2014 resolutions and goals. So this morning I began the process of redirecting my path that currently led me to a dead end. And let me tell you, it was no easy thing to do! Removing the rose color glasses as I gaze at the choices and decisions I made over the past few months was irritating, painful and downright discouraging. And if I was to leave my wounded ego here, I would give up this years goals now and wait until December 31 to start a fresh.
Instead, I looked towards heaven. I asked God to help me learn from my mistakes, poor choices while He redirects my path. After all, in His word (Proverbs 3:5-6) He reminds me to put ALL and EVERYTHING in the hands of God my Father who understands and knows what it best for me. In fact, He further reassures me “that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to Hispurpose.” Romans 8:28.
So with that in mind, I began to look at the list of goals and tasks I created for myself. And for each one I asked the question, “is this according to God’s purpose for my life?” This is a very tough question because it requires me to surrender my desires to Him and completely trust Him to know the right outcome for me. Already, I have had to step away from obligations I made with good intentions but are not in His purpose for me, at least not right now.
Maybe you find yourself in the same boat I am in and worry of how you too can get back on track with the life God has for you. Maybe you’ve invested so much time, money and sweat into a project only to realize that your heart isn’t totally vested. So you finally muster up the courage to be painfully honest with yourself and now it’s time to take action to correct the path you have been traveling. Well I am here to encourage you stay this course of action and allow God to free you from the cords of purposeless tasks and obligations that you find yourself tangled in. Not only will you begin to see the better and bigger picture for your life during this season, but you will have the strength and wisdom to fulfill it!
Well, I can’t say that I have completed the assessment process as of yet, but I can assure you that when it is complete I will be back on the right path and by God’s grace, I will stay (and complete) the course!
May God bless you in all your endeavors according to His will!
